The Beautiful Structure of Cosmic Nothingness: Understanding Immutability

The Beautiful Structure of Cosmic Nothingness: Understanding Immutability

I hope that this write-up is appealing to the imagination. It is not intended to be rigorous..

Since time immemorial, humans have wondered what life on earth was all about. They would not have missed the fact that not all patterns are exhibited in the natural world. Only certain shapes are exhibited in the realm of nature and these are beautiful.

In the last couple of decades, we have deepened our knowledge to include fractal geometry.

“A fractal is a never-ending pattern..They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems..”

What are Fractals? — https://fractalfoundation.org/resources/what-are-fractals/

I came across fractals only lately, well after I went into retirement. Briefly, fractals are self-similar shapes, that is shapes that preserve angles, which does mean that the same shape is preserved on every scale. In the small lies the large is the secret behind the universe and its fractal structure. This is possible because of pattern repetition. Quickly, a logarithmic spiral is fractal. The logarithmic spiral exhibits a high degree of structure too.

The fractal approach to understanding the universe is substantially different from the Newtonian understanding of the universe. In the fractal approach, Newtonian trajectories are delimited by fractaline shapes.

At this juncture, it is imperative to understand the overriding beauty principle that underpins the shape of the universe.

The following figure which is called a logarithmic spiral is a fractal:

A GIF logarithmic spiral is shown above. This is the beautiful and immutable blueprint of the universe. The illusion of mass is the result of spin or angular momentum. The shape of the logarithmic spiral does not change even when it is enlarged or made smaller. In other words, the logarithmic spiral is scale-free.

The above spiral petroglyph can be found on Saguaro Hill Arizona,

Ancient peoples took notice of the ubiquity of the spiral and etched them in stone: https://www.americansouthwest.net/arizona/saguaro/spiral-petroglyph_l.html

More about the human obsession with spirals here: http://www.ancient-wisdom.com/spirals.htm

The spinning of the logarithmic spiral is the objective expression of subjective happiness, which is also reflected in the whirling of dervishes.

Is our consciousness drawn to fractals? Answer: Affirmative. I will not be shy in making the assertion that consciousness and fractals are complementary pairs. Another way to understand this is: Consciousness-fractals form a subjective-objective pair. From a similar viewpoint, fractals are the objects of subjective consciousness

Consciousness, as fractals, belongs to the realm of nonlinear phenomenon which is the reason why using our personal “random access memory” consciously is the essence of learning. Making connections from disparate pieces of information is the basic foundation for learning.

Structural self-similarity between the tree and the galaxy

The above picture shows a comparison structure between the tree and the galaxy. More about that here: https://sixtyandme.com/eternally-fractal-the-real-connection-between-tree-branches-wrinkles-and-geometry/. The above fractal comparison above gives us a clue about the structure of the universe at every level. There is a vertical immutable dimension which is unseen, which subtends visible branches horizontally. In this picture, the hidden dimension passes through the bright centre of the galaxy; from outside the computer screen extending to behind it.

In both the tree and the galaxy, there exists a hub structure comprising a centre and peripheral filaments, spirals in the galaxy and branches in the tree. Referring to the tree picture, the trunk is hidden “behind the screen” but nonetheless, it is present. A black hole is located at the centre of the galaxy.

Hub structure: The light beam through the middle of a galaxy is not obvious but is detectable.
Hub structure: The sigmoid curve structure is hidden. For example, the human spine.

The sigmoid curve in the cosmic structure which forms the vertical axis is not obvious. There exists a sigmoid curve through the centre of each galaxy which forms its pivot.

In the human being, the unseen dimension is hidden in the vertical spine, which is in the shape of a sigmoid curve. The spine is an essential part of the human body. The spine houses the spinal cord which is part of the central nervous system, which connects the brain to other parts of the body. No human being can live without a spine. A broken spine will eventually lead to death. I will bypass the topic of chakras or human energy centres.

The fractal manifested as the logarithmic spiral in particular is the blueprint of the universe.

We can see the hub structure exhibited in the human being too, the primary control structure being the central nervous system (comprising the brain and the spinal column) and the peripheral nervous system which extends outward from the central nervous system. Fractal and chaotic dynamics in nervous systems — https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1871317/

In fact, the human body is chock full of fractals: Fractals in the Body — http://fractalfoundation.org/OFC/OFC-1-2.html and Research shows human cells assembling into fractal-like clusters — https://www.brown.edu/news/2019-08-12/fractals

The consciousness-fractal relationship is a vertical Yin-Yang relationship, and not a horizontal one, meaning a hidden Yang dimension and an obvious Yin dimension. Yin-Yang is conventionally translated as a feminine-masculine idea. The feminine-masculine relationship is primarily a vertical relationship and only in a subordinate sense is it a horizontal relationship.

Fractals express the ideas of consciousness, or pictures in the mind of the Supreme Being if you like. Fractals in the realm of nature are ultimately love of beauty constructs in the mind of the Divine.

“When we look at nature, we are basically looking at ourselves” is a truism that is often overlooked. Understanding fractals will go a long way in realigning our consciousness towards thinking with deference to immutable structures. The immutable structures in the universe are associated with curves.

Simply, a nonlinear phenomenon exhibits curves. The universe appears beautiful because it exhibits curves. Exponential-logarithmic mathematical principles are behind nonlinear phenomena. The universe is an expression of mathematical indices. The universe is woven of mathematical rigour and beautiful play which are both rooted in the laws of mathematical indices.

Beauty in the realm of nature exists because it rests upon the foundations of immutability. Fractals are beautiful because our consciousness recognizes it as such. Fractals are the objective form to subjective consciousness.

There exist a lock and key geometry behind our consciousness of fractals, that is to say between the realm of subjectivity and the realm of objectivity. To be more explicit, if the lock represents consciousness, which is a subjective phenomenon, then the key represents fractals, which is an objective phenomenon. There is no escaping from fractals. They are all around us. Fractals are geometrical shapes that exhibit immutable principles behind them. A sense of hyperbolic geometry is useful in thinking about fractals.

The diagram above shows a GIF picture of a hyperboloid, which is the hole in the doughnut-shaped torus. The hyperboloid shape induces attraction. The universe which is in the shape of a torus above is in principle an attractive phenomenon, not a dissipative — how is a torus a dissipative construct? — one, as many people erroneously imagine. The geometry of the universe is extremely stable and has no chance of falling apart.

From a 3D perspective, a hyperboloid structure appears like this:

hyperboloid: Source of diagram — https://www.pinterest.com/pin/156570524532842588/

The universe is structurally a hyperboloid surface. Beyond it is an ocean of light.

The universe delivers to the human being the fractal zoom experience. In this way, one can sense immutability within the myriad of manifestations. The fractal delivers infinitude in a finite space. There exists a central principle which is governed by fractal geometry which is expressed in the realm of cosmic manifestation. This is what cosmic beauty is all about. Elegance in simplicity. Exuberance in parsimony.

Question: How did we lose our sense of immutability? What caused our sense of immutability to be eroded? Answer to that is rooted in the abuse of power. The danger in that is: Consciousness and manifestations of power are not compatible with each other.

Consciousness and power manifestation is not a lock and key combination. To put it another way, consciousness-power combination is a lock-and-key mismatch.

The object of consciousness are principles, not manifestations of power. To make the wrong match is a fatal error.

The 99 Percent… of the Human Genome — https://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2012/issue127a/ Out of the 3 billion base pairs, only 20 000 base pairs of DNA are used in coding for protein. Why is so much of our genome not being used to code for protein? Does this extra DNA serve any functional purpose? This line of questioning is not cognizant that the universe is for the love of beauty purposes above everything else. The DNA molecule like everything else in the natural realm should be regarded as a love of beauty construct. The role of objects in the natural realm is to display beauty.

At this juncture, let’s take note that by adopting non-destructive attitudes towards the environment, we have a better chance of preserving it for ourselves and for posterity. We live in a museum called earth but we are allowed to use its beautiful artefacts for a variety of purposes. Vandalism should be frowned on.

The realm of modern physics today discusses the realm of manifestation, not immutable principles. It is not cognizant of the fact that the patterns that constitute the realm of physicality — or physical manifestations — conform to immutable principles of geometry. Principles are everything. Manifestations are fleeting, even nothing. One has to step out of the material point of view in order to get the overall picture of the universe.

The visible light range occupies less than 1% of the entire range, nay it occupies negligible percentage of the entire light range which extends from 0 to infinity. Briefly, visible light occupies 400 nanometers (4 x 10 ^-7 m for violet) to 700 nm (7 x 10^–7 m for red).

The most fundamental aspect of the universe much of it is unseen. Much of the universe is unseen. Another way of putting it is that the universe is an ocean of invisible waves or spinning spirals. Most vibrations that exist in the universe lie above or below — or very simply, they lie beyond — the visible light range which is why objects appear dark. Between 0-infinity, less than 1 per cent, nay 0 per cent of the electromagnetic waves in the universe are expressed in rainbow colours.

The universe is not empty. In fact, space is full of vibrations. These vibrations are comprised of the spinning of logarithmic spirals. The realm of space is chock full of spinning logarithmic spirals. This is the unseen beauty of space. The realm of space stands above the realm of physicality.

Space is comprised of two dimensions or component axes (1) a vertical axis representing time — the y axis and (2) a horizontal axis representing “angular momentum or energy” — the x-axis, which our coarse sense perception perceives as existing and not an illusion, which is erroneous. Please see the picture below.

The universe is an exclusively spatial phenomenon. Physicality is an illusory manifestation of space or of spinning logarithmic spirals. An understanding of how consciousness is to be applied is required to conclude that the universe lie purely in the realm of principle rather than the realm of manifestation.

Ancient ideas are accurate in pointing out that the universe falls under the realm of ideas rather than the realm of physicality.

The principles of fractal geometry bind the physical universe to the realm of ideas in the sense it allows only certain shapes to be exhibited. Not all shapes are beautiful. Some shapes are more beautiful than others. Only the most beautiful shapes are exhibited in the realm of nature. Fractal geometry is the beautiful geometry of nature. The universe as art is almost never discussed anywhere. This article is an exception though: This is the Universe… but is it art? — https://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/2012/08/28/this-is-the-universe-but-is-it-art

Having said all of the above, I’m happy to note that at least there are numerous fractal groups on the internet, on Facebook, etc, that discuss fractals and beautiful artworks are prominently exhibited therein. The following is one among many: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2781386185249191/ These groups are paving the way for the upcoming resurgence of knowledge based on the geometric understanding of the universe.

Although the universe is physically large, it is geometrically rooted in the unit circle. Fractals are rooted in the geometry of the unit circle. The Mandelbrot set, which is a fractal, is the set of all complex numbers c that causes the function Zn+1=Z²n + c to remain bound within a circle of radius 2 when iterated from Z0=0.

This Numberphile video is a visual treat. It explains: What is so special about the Mandelbrot Set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFftmWSzgmk

This video is very appealing in a way which is appealing to the intuition.

There are a couple of takeaways from this video:

(1) The Mandelbrot set is a prime candidate as the cosmic blueprint. It has the characteristics of stability and beauty, necessary qualities of the universe. The stable region of the Mandelbrot set corresponds to the ultraviolet range of the light spectrum whereas the unstable region outside Mandelbrot set corresponds to the infrared range. The infrared region is associated with heat from fire which does not “conform”.

(2) It also gives the cosmic set-up the “simulation” quality. In this set-up, human free will is a reflection of a higher free will. Human free will is an illusory manifestation of a higher will.

The universe is a love of beauty construct and the fractal variation that is expressed within appear haphazard although, in reality, they are not. The branching nature of fractals is the zoom effects of a single shape, namely the circle.

The cosmos delivers the Mandelbrot zoom to repletion. Everywhere we turn we see this..

Fractal Zoom

The role of consciousness is to conceive the fractal zoom in the heart within in the same way that it does in the realm of fractals without.

A brief definition: The eye of the heart, the organ of intellectual intuition lifted from here — http://www.dictionaryofspiritualterms.com/public/glossaries/terms.aspx?ID=22

Source: United Nations. Location of the petroglyph is San Rafael Swell, Utah

Interpretation of spiral heart is: The heart is a receptacle and source of knowledge of the structural geometry of the universe.

Chaos is a highly ordered system and they are not haphazard at all. Chaos is an exhibition of non-random mathematical processes. Chaos and fractals are indelibly linked. Nowadays, principles of chaos theory are being applied not only in the realm of the hard sciences, namely physics, meteorology, oceanography, chemistry and biology but also in the realm of social sciences, such as psychology, economics, investment banking, etc. This is a positive development which paves the way for a revolution in the collective consciousness.

More about fractals and their connection to dynamical systems here: “As infinitely complex objects that are self-similar across all scales, they (fractals) represent dynamical systems in all their glory. In fact, Mandelbrot eventually proved that Lorenz’s attractor was a fractal, as are most strange attractors. And they’re not limited to the ruminations of scientists or the renderings of computers.” is lifted from here: https://science.howstuffworks.com/math-concepts/chaos-theory6.htm

I do sense strongly that another revolution in the collective human consciousness is in the offing but not until the abuse of power that is rampant in the world today is completely expunged. How that will happen is for another post..

Is the behaviour of a single human being, a fractal? The answer to that is in the affirmative. Free will is an illusion which is underpinned by the fractal zoom experience. Free will — the human will or simply the will or willpower — is a horizontal phenomenon whereas intelligence is a vertical phenomenon. Free will and intelligence are complementary pairs which are indelibly linked together. Intelligence, which is vertical should lead the will, which is horizontal, not the other way around.

Finally, one final fractal — the Lorenz Attractor exists (in nature): https://www.nature.com/articles/35023206

The Lorenz attractor is one of the most beautiful images in mathematics. The Lorenz Attractor — https://scipython.com/blog/the-lorenz-attractor/
